Offering works from the estates of Joseph Edwards Alexander (1947-2008), Peter Anthony Stroud (1921-2012), Vincent Grimaldi (1929-2011), and other mostly 20th century artists. Joseph Edwards Alexander, whose maternal grandfather and namesake Joseph Edwards captained the Charles Morgan, studied at the Swain School in New Bedford. A brilliant colorist and sometimes surrealist, his work ranged from painterly landscapes to pure abstraction. A painter of geometric works that combined constructivist and color field abstraction, Peter Anthony Stroud was a British artist and member of the important 'Situation' group in London and participated in many other important exhibitions, including The Response Eyein 1965 at the MOMA. Vince Grimaldi studied at The Art Student League under Reginald Marsh and John Corbino. Vince worked in painting, collage, photography and box constructions, exhibiting his work in New York and later in Providence, where he moved spent his final years.
