Filipe Miguel weaves folkloric narratives and current events into total art experiences. His drawings, paintings, sculptures and art installations invite the audience into the story. Using a variety of materials, Filipe is interested in creating emotional connections between object and viewer. He earned an MFA from the University of Connecticut with a focus in Studio Art and he is a local graduate of CVPA at UMass Dartmouth. Filipe has exhibited at the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, The Wallace Anderson Gallery at Bridgewater State University and former Gallery and Project Space Location1 in NYC. His work has been selected for National Juried shows throughout New England. Filipe is also one of the founding members of SNAC since 2008, Southern New England Artist Community, an artist group that works collectively seeking projects and exhibition opportunities. Filipe has taught a variety of fine arts courses at Bridgewater State University and other local institutions. He currently resides in Onset Ma. and is a Visual Arts Teacher at Barnstable High School.
