Diana Azevedo-Carns is a mixed media artist. Painting and printmaking, both traditional and digital, are her primary media, but she works in digital photography, sculpture, and time-based media as well. Her abstract imagery exhibits a strong relationship to the natural world, especially patterns found in nature and systems - many reference patterns of growth or aerial views of land and water. Rhythms and variations of these patterns allow her to explore these themes in related colors and forms. She has been inspired by the challenge of creating art that uses digital and traditional media and techniques in a kind of counterpoint. The experience has introduced her to new ways of working that will surely influence my approach to future endeavors. Azevedo-Carns has an MFA from UMass Dartmouth and a Doctorate in Educational Media and Curriculum from Boston University. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is in private and public collections.
